Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist performs exams relative to patient population and may assist physicians in performing procedures as well as transporting medications from the delivery area to an authorized imaging area. 

Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams utilizing approved procedures and protocols per standards of practice for speed, organization, precision, and accuracy based upon the department’s accrediting agency and/or department guidelines for exam protocols. Adheres to department productivity standards. Per scope of practice and in accordance with institutional and departmental policy and procedure, receives and transcribes verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners.

Previews all ultrasound images and monitors for accuracy and prepares/sends preliminary reports to designated viewing systems. Performs section specific imaging QC procedures using established technical factors and image identification.

Assists physicians in performing procedures and ensure all supplies and/or devices are prepared and available in accordance with infection control policies and practices. 

Accurate and timely documentation in all applicable electronic medical records systems, workbooks and or logs.Responsible for the weekend and begin and/or end of shift duties as applicable to shift assignment. 

Adheres to all sterilization protocols and performs high-level disinfection process as applicable. 

Operates, calibrates and maintains imaging equipment and accessory instruments used in imaging procedures. Recognizes and reports defective equipment immediately and marks equipment as “out of service”. Takes an active role in obtaining service for down equipment. Participates in the evaluation of new imaging equipment.

Provides patient and family education, specific to age and demographic population as appropriate.

Participates in performance improvement activities and other department/organizational committees (i.e., Shared Accountability Team, Joint Commission, Safety Audits).

    • Bachelor’s: BSN, Chemistry, Medical Technology or Science. 
    • Master’s: MSN, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physical Therapy doctorate. 
    • Employees may have their loans Forgiven if they continue eligible employment for 12 months after completion of the term for which the loan was given

Qualifications

  • Eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (required).

  • ARRT and/or CRT certifications (preferred).

  • Certification in area of specialty (required).

  • Current BLS certification (required).

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (required).

  • One (1) year of radiologic/imaging experience (required).

  • Basic computer knowledge (preferred).

Our compensation philosophy

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other recognition programs for our employees. The base pay range shown above takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
