The Simulation Center Instructor provides professional support through the coordination and delivery of health education for simulation educational program(s). Schedules and presents group classes on subject areas of need for the Simulation Center. Assesses effectiveness of class / content, and revises as needed. Develops, secures, and maintains any equipment or instructional materials needed to conduct classes. Assists in promoting educational events to physicians, staff, and externally.
What are the Primary Duties and Responsibilities?
- Maintains the highest standards and integrity of the programs instructed.
- Coordinates the delivery of education programs under the Simulation Center. Assesses needs of class participants and modifies class content or teaching methods to meet those needs.
- Coordinates the scheduling of instructors ensuring appropriate student to teacher ratio is maintained according to the training that is provided.
- Arranges and coordinates room set-up and availability of materials. Transports all educational equipment and ensures all instructional equipment is functioning properly working with the Simulation Specialists.
- Maintains records of training activities including attendance rosters, assignments and class evaluations. Ensures all information is entered into relevant programs to support administrative records.
- Promotes and advertises all education programs externally as appropriate and following the appropriate marketing and department guidelines. Post and maintains calendar for upcoming educational events and registration.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapy or related field required
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Paramedic Science, Hospital Administrator, Public Health or Business Administration preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Four (4) years of clinical experience in Emergency Care, Trauma, Critical Care (i.e. Trauma ICU, Trauma OR, Emergency department Pre-hospital or Flight Medicine) required
- Five (5) years of teaching classes and/or conducting training programs in one or more national recognized courses. (i.e. TNCC, PHTLS, ACLS-EP, PALS, ENPC, TECC, EMS Program) required
License/Certification Requirements:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
- CA Registered Nurse (RN) License, or Respiratory Therapy (RT) Care Practitioner, or Emergency Medical Technician License, or Paramedic License required upon hire
- ACLS/ALS/Life Support/Trauma/Pediatric Instructor certifications preferred
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to offsite locations to teach courses and educational events (10%)
