Job Description

The Academic Systems Advisor leads the strategic management and optimization of academic processes and systems to support higher education and research. The Advisor will work with Enterprise Information Services (EIS) to align technology solutions to academic priorities and objectives. The Advisor is the primary point-ofcontact in the Academic Enterprise for optimizing research services, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement. This position leads the implementation of complex process improvements enabled by system enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.

This role involves providing strategic guidance on system requirements and business process needs for all academic enterprise applications and grants management. The Advisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness of research administration. The Advisor will apply extensive and specialized expertise to ensure the successful implementation of new or updating academic systems based on operational and regulatory knowledge of business needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy for academic processes and systems, aligning technology with CSMC’s academic mission.
  • Collaborates closely with academic enterprise stakeholders to understand their evolving needs and align processes and systems accordingly. Identifies potential risks and challenges that may impact functional operations, proactively addressing issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborates with EIS and Academic Enterprise leaders in the design, development and implementation of process and system improvements to enable research administrators to optimize workflows.
  • Collaborates with EIS to develop a roadmap of information system upgrades and replacements.
  • Collaborates with EIS to integrate academic and ERP systems to minimize duplication of efforts by administrative staff.
  • Coordinates with leadership, system users, technical groups, EIS, and vendors to optimize use of technologies and recommend solutions to system issues. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, developing standardized processes, and promoting knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Assessing the technology needs for a flourishing research and academic enterprise, including systems to support the more efficient delivery of research services and systems to underpin and integrate the operations with Cedars Sinai-wide platforms.
  • Proactively identifies areas for process improvement, escalating to leadership when necessary.

  • Plans, leads, and directs work of staff to ensure goals and objectives are completed within established budget and deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, managing schedules, personnel actions, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.

Qualifications

Job qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Science in Nursing, and/or related.
  • 8 years Experience leveraging analytics and technology to improve research and higher education workflows.
  • 5 years Supervisory, project management or research capacity.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Science in Nursing, and/or related.
  • Law Degree preferred for CTAO office.
