Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance for invasive and non-invasive techniques, including direct systemic arterial and patient monitoring setups.
  • Assist Anesthesiologist in difficult airway intubation, providing necessary equipment and demonstrating knowledge of airway techniques.
  • Complete the Malignant Hyperthermia protocol, ensuring the anesthesia machine is accurately prepared.
  • Respond appropriately to codes, assisting the anesthesiologist and OR staff as needed.
  • Maintain, stock, clean, and coordinate anesthesia carts, ensuring all necessary items are in place.
  • Prepare, assemble, and prime transducers, slitters, and extension tubing.
  • Set up rooms with equipment and supplies needed for each patient procedure.
  • Troubleshoot and replace anesthesia equipment, bringing up repairs to Biomed or equivalent experience when necessary.
  • Ensure all instruments and equipment meet FDA regulations for safe and accurate operation.
  • Act as a resource to operating room staff regarding anesthesia equipment and procedures.
  • Control and maintain perioperative anesthesia equipment, demonstrating competence in disinfection protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with all patient populations, ensuring patient safety and accurate identification.
  • Apply appropriate PPE and monitor staff compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist anesthesiologist with equipment preparation for procedures, applying advanced clinical skills and critical thinking.
  • Attend in-service demonstrations for ongoing training and assist with OR turnover.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience (Minimum)
  • Associate Degree/College Diploma in Health Science (Preferred)

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare environment

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
  • Certified Anesthesia Tech certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) (Minimum)
