Dr. Nie is a Research Scientist in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr. Nie's long-term career goal is to identify novel therapeutic approaches for geriatric patients by using "big data" from single-cell datasets to decode molecular mechanisms underlying age-related diseases. The research team in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is dedicated to discovering the causes of diabetes, obesity and glandular diseases and developing interventions to prevent and treat them.

The incumbent performs lab cleaning and maintenance duties including washing and sterilizing glassware, operates autoclaves and other specialized equipment, using special detergents or other cleaning agents. Assists in ordering and maintenance of cleaning supplies inventory. Performs other lab cleaning and maintenance as required. May participate in research studies and perform basic lab techniques under mentorship of the PI.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs sterilization of glassware.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipment record keeping.
  • May assist with the feeding and maintenance of lab vivarium activities.
  • May perform basic administrative duties in laboratory or in accordance with research project.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

Experience and Skills:

  • No experience is required.
  • Ability to understand and perform a variety of routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to support the activity of one or more research labs.
  • Ability to use specialized equipment and materials.
  • Ability to follow safety standards and procedures.
