As a Neurodiagnostic Tech II, you will care for patients diagnosed with a brain or nerve condition, seeking the most advanced care from top specialists in the field. Summary of Essential Duties:
- The Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IOM) Technologist II performs routine to moderately complex neurophysiological monitoring during surgical procedures with increased independence and clinical judgment. Building upon foundational skills, the Technologist II is responsible for selecting appropriate monitoring modalities, interpreting complex data, and communicating critical findings to the surgical and anesthesia teams in real time.
- This role includes preoperative patient evaluations, collaboration in developing anesthesia and monitoring plans, and active participation in multi-modality monitoring. The Technologist II ensures adherence to safety protocols, contributes to quality assurance initiatives, and demonstrates proficiency in troubleshooting equipment and resolving technical issues. This position reflects a progression in clinical expertise, decision-making, and accountability in support of patient safety and surgical outcomes.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets multiple types of electrophysiological data to assist the surgical team in preserving neurological integrity. Ensures accurate signal acquisition and documentation in alignment with established protocols, contributing to patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes. Perform intra-operative neuro monitoring of multi-modality evoked potentials. This includes but is not limited to Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses (BAER), Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Transcranial Motor Evoked Potential (TcMEP), Train of Four (TOF), Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP).
- Accurately documents all relevant intraoperative communications, physiological data, anesthetic adjustments, and patient responses in the surgical log and medical record throughout the monitoring process, in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an Electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training required
License/Certifications:
- Certification in Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (CNIM) from ABRET required
- R EEG T. certification preferred
- R EP T. certification preferred
BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in intraoperative monitoring required
- 4 years of experience in neurodiagnostics and intraoperative monitoring preferred
- Applicants with 5 or more years of experience may be considered as an IOM Tech III
